About Char Ocasek
Biography
I was born and raised in California where I was surrounded by beautiful mountains and the Pacific Ocean at my doorstep. My family was involved in art on many levels: My mom loved interior design, my nana was always in the garden with her gorgeous flowers and magnificent floral arrangements she made for our family’s hotel restaurant business, and my sister was and still is a fabulous artist. It seems that art was ever-present in my life.
I started painting not so long ago and fell in love with acrylics, texture, and abstract painting. I have taken courses and some workshops which have been a great experience for me moving forward with my art. Outside of that, I would have to say that I am basically self-taught. I enjoy doing individual pieces which for some reason or another, maybe because I like them, turn into landscapes. Lately non objective painting is tugging on me and I am starting to explore that avenue. I love color, texture, lots of texture and happy accidents. My sister, my mentor, is a constant encouragement to me.
I am now living in New Braunfels, Texas. I am a juried displaying member at the New Braunfels Art League. I continue to be excited about art and look forward to years of staying in the paint.
